Video one of the fastest ways to connect with your viewers and share your message. Today, I’m going to share some of the latest research on why you need to be using video in your business.


We all need data in our businesses to accurately forecast where we are headed. Tracking the results from our marketing efforts goes straight to the bottom line. If you know taking certain actions will yield higher results, why wouldn’t you invest your time and money there?


I recently came across this compelling report from Vidyard about using video as part of your marketing strategy, and it is so good, I had to share it.


Now I know, numbers aren’t always the sexiest content, AND It’s a known fact that using video helps you connect, build trust and relationships with your audience.


So with a hearty thank you to Vidyard, here are 7 compelling reasons in easy to understand language about why you need to use video in your marketing.


1. Increase your revenue

Marketers who use video are growing company revenue 49% faster year-over-year than those who don’t, according to research from Aberdeen Group.


2. Video influences buying decisions

A stunning 90% of customers say that watching a video about a product factors into their decision to buy and 64% say that watching a video makes them more likely to buy, according to Vidyard’s 2018 Video in Business Benchmark Report.


Plus, 97% of marketers say that video has helped increase user understanding of their product or service, according to HubSpot.


3. Your audience prefers video

According to Hubspot, when it comes to brands, people prefer video content.

That means your audience would prefer to watch a video before they would read an email, newsletter, content on social media, blog posts or even free downloadable content.


I want you to think about what you do when you’re making a buying decision.

How do you do your research?


Think about how many times you watch a video to learn more about the product you are thinking about buying. According to Wyzowl a staggering 98% of users say they’ve watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service.


Think about the possibilities that offers for your brand and products!


4. Video helps you get found on the internet

There’s so much content out there on almost any topic, it’s hard to get noticed. Video will help you improve your ranking on search engine pages.


How much time someone spends on your page after finding you in a search can affect your search result standing.

According to HubSpot, 80% of marketers acknowledging that video has increased the amount of time people spend on their website.


In another study from Mist Media, their data shows that the average person searching the internet will spend nearly 90% more time on a site that has video vs. one without video.


Research from Forrester shows you can increase your chances of being on the first page of Google by by more than 50% by using video.


If you still need convincing, Search Metrics shows that 55% of keyword search results in the US contain at least one video.


Not only does video increase your likelihood of getting found, people will spend more time on your website. And that’s a good thing!


5. Get more traffic to your website

Research from Aberdeen Group shows 41% more website traffic for marketers who use video than those who don’t. If that’s not a competitive advantage, I don’t know what is.


6. Increase your conversion rate

Video users have 27% higher click-through rates and 34% higher web conversion rates according to research from Aberdeen Group.


Even more significant, using video on a landing page can increase conversions by 80%, according to Unbounce.


7. Video helps you reach the decision makers


Forbes reports, 75% of business executives said they watch work-related videos weekly. And another whopping 54% of senior executives share work-related videos with their colleagues every week.


If this is your market, pay attention to this next stat: 59% of senior execs agree if they have a choice between text and video, they would choose the video.


They’re not the only ones though, according to HubSpot, 72% of people would rather use video to learn about a product or service.


So what to make of this data?


Even if you haven’t started using video yet, these stats should be enough to help you decide to take action and include video in your marketing strategy.


Video use will only increase in the future and the sooner you start using it and understanding the power of visuals, the sooner you will start reaping the benefits of using video in your marketing.
